Community Leagues Endorse Former Scots (And Guys Who Marry Them)

Do you HAVE to go to HPHS to get elected in University Park or Highland Park? Not technically. But let me ask you this: Did your spouse go there? OK, you might be alright. Developing.

  • All 6 of the candidates (including incumbent mayor) endorsed by the Highland Park Community League attended Highland Park High School. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
  • Of the 5 candidates endorsed by the University Park Community League (including the candidate who is unopposed for mayor), 3 went to HPHS. Of the 2 non-HPHS grads, 1 lists on his bio that his wife went to HPHS (no mention of where the other wives matriculated).

Anyone know if we’ve ever had a city council candidate or elected official who went to a DISD school? Maybe a wife?

Barbara Hitzelberger (former UP mayor) graduated from Hillcrest High School! (She did attend HPHS at some point though.)

Why wouldn’t she count? She was on the UP City Council before she was mayor and she graduated from a DISD high school.

This is the “BUBBLE” isn’t it? Don’t want any outsiders trying to “pop” it!

Are you sure of your facts? Andrew Barr grew up in Fort Worth, which would make it hard for him to have attended HPHS. Unless your rules say FW=HP. Sista.
