I visited the Dallas County Park Cities Municipal Utility Department this morning. I guess you could put “water filtration” on the list of things I never considered interesting.
But after getting a tour of the facility that provides drinking water to the Park Cities, I have to tell you that watching creek water turn into the stuff that comes out of the faucet is a pretty interesting process. At least, Larry McDaniel, the general manager of the plant, made it interesting.
What really piqued my interest is the new filtration system the DCPCMUD is planning with some of the $33 million in Texas Water Development Board bond money. McDaniel said that the new filters would make the water that comes from the facility equivalent to filtered bottled water, which can get pretty pricey.
