What Are Those Metal Pyramids on Preston Road?

Curious construction afoot at Preston Road Church of Christ?

If you’ve passed by the corner of Preston Road and University Boulevard, you’ll probably notice some large, metal pyramids flanking the front of the Preston Road Church of Christ. Nearby residents can relax: They’re not lawn ornaments!

The church completed a construction project about a year ago, said an official with the church. The original plan included metal roofs for the church’s three towers (you can see two above, and there’s a third on the other side of the building). They’re just now getting a contractor to install them.

The church also plans to do some interior remodeling on the older wing of the building, along with some landscaping.

Thank you for explaining. I was pretty sure that denomination would not embrace the idea of pyramid power.

Thanks for explaining what those are. I, for one, am feeling totally abused by the situation down the block- the HPPC request for re-zoning of the entire block west of the church. I took a look at those ugly pyramids and thought, jeepers, what now? It’s good to know that those will be on top of the buildings and, hopefully, out of sight.
