Uke Lady Opens Dallas’ First Uke Store
Uke Lady Noel Tardy at a jam session at Oak Cliff’s Hula Hotties
Way, way back, not long after I started here, I wrote a story about a ukulele resurgence in Dallas led by Preston Hollow native Noel Tardy. (She told me about how, as a student at Ursuline, she would ride her horse to school just to hear the nuns there tsk.) Dubbing herself the “Uke Lady,” she has been selling high-quality instruments for years via the magic of the Internet. Following the successful launch of the Lone Star Uke Fest a couple of months ago, she’s now going brick and mortar.
This Saturday, Tardy will launch Dallas’ first-ever store dedicated to the ukulele. (Fair warning: I have not fact-checked this claim). The grand opening of the Lake Highlands location, located at 718 N Buckner Blvd., Suite 324, lasts from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and features performances by Kerri Arrista and Charman Aiwohi.
