Pearce Volleyball Team is Not to be Trifled With

Do you see Dan's reflection in this picture of a picture?

As far as Scots fans are concerned, I live behind enemy lines — in other words, in the Pearce High School attendance zone. Assuming I don’t move in the next dozen years, my sons will grow up to be Mustangs.

During a recent grocery shopping trip, I couldn’t help but notice the poster for the Pearce volleyball team — the one on which they’re all wearing tank tops, combat boots, and Daisy Dukes. Wow.

Should the Lady Scots win their playoff game against Red Oak on Friday night, Highland Park will most likely get another shot at these tough broads in the regional final on Saturday.

I see a suspicious looking “dome” over the 3rd girl from the left in the top row.

With that question answered I think that the pic is a tad bit exploitive for a high school-sanctioned poster.

I see a suspicous looking dome over the head of the 3rd girl from the left on the top row.

With that having been said, I think this is a bit exploitive for a school-sponsored poster.

My apologies in advance if this comment shows up more than once.

James, we are allowed to agree about twice a year. This is one of those times.

@grump, in response to a post about bullying you said:
“My kids are under strict orders: End the bullying by any means necessary.
If they see it being done, confront it, end it.
Case in point: some genius was making fun of a special needs kid in elem last year. I was proud when a mom called my wife and said she saw one of my boys end it. No wiggle room. No excuses. END. IT.”

Um, yeah. Case in point: some genius was making fun of a bunch of 16-18 year old, high school athletes in this post. I was shocked it was the same person that said that…

    Exploitive – not really
    In bad taste – definitely
It would be great to have a large HP contingent at HPHS VB’s play-off games on Friday and hopefully, Saturday. The game on Friday is at 6PM at Sachse HS vs. Red Oak. And yes, I know there’s a football game too, but you can make both. The football game doesn’t start until 7:30P. Besides, when was the last time you saw more than 50% of the crowd arrive before the 2nd quarter at an HP game?
Assuming both HP and JJPearce win on Friday night, they would play each other on Saturday at 4P at Garland Special Events center.

I’m horrified at how sexy these high school girls look. When I was their age, a bazillion years ago in the 70’s, 90% of us were still existing in that awkweird girl stage. We were still “children.”

I think the hyper-sexualization of our culture in the last 30 years or so has resulted in underage girls who present themselves as sexual beings first, and persons of any substance second. It depresses me.

@bc I’m so glad you pointed out that the previous bullying post was also from grump or I never would have noticed! I thought his comment about the way he teaches his kids to stop bullying was so great but geez, I’m totally disillusioned now. You expect comments like that from jerky teens but when a grown man says it, it really makes you wonder. He’s what we call a “creep dad”.

Bob’s mom-I am so with you! It sickens me. And to the rest of you-if you think this poster is in poor taste and exploitative, have you checked how your high school aged daughter looks before she walks out the door in the morning? The hallways at HP are filled with girls who are scantily clad.

Uh, did you not look at the picture? Where are the heavy girls? Where are the others? Do you not think this was by design? The whole pic is in bad taste for girls this age. Please notice I said girls. These are not young women, they are girls being exploited.
Yes, my choice of words was awful, but c’mon! I would blow up if my daughter came home with this. I was not making fun of anyone, just pointing out(poorly) the absurdity of the picture.
I think all of the girls are beautiful, but not in a “Creep Dad” kind of way.

poorteacher and Bob’s mom: ditto. Many girls are just following the trend, not trying to look like a sex object. However, the teenage boys seem pretty used to it and, I hope, don’t attach much significance to it.

You guys are all way too hyper-sensitive. These Girls are athletes…for anyone to be calling any of these girls heifers.. is inexcusable. The Shorts are NOT Daisy Dukes, and since when is a black tank top considered sexy apparel?

I think this is just uptight HP folk upset that they have been owned in volleyball by Pearce for the last what 3 or 4 years?
