Rise and Shine, Park Cities (01-18-11)

1. The three day weekend gave you one more night to party, eh? Need some extra caffeine to get moving? Well, swing by your favorite Starbucks and super-size it. Starting today, Starbucks locations in Texas and a handful of other states will be offering an extra large version of their iced beverages. Give me a Trenta please. Venti is so 2010.

2. Has the nasty economy left your luxury life gasping for air? Have you turned to Groupon or Living Social in search of some affordable extras? Like yesterday when they tempted with an offer to get a discounted colon hydrotherapy session? Seriously. I don’t even want to know what that is. Anyway, don’t listen to economists, turn to the retail fashion industry for signs that things are on the mend. Like this: Saks has announced that they now carry Gucci shoes for babies and children. For $220. I love Gucci but I’d have colon hydrotherapy (whatever it is- ewwwwww, I just looked it up) before I bought Gucci shoes for a kid. But this is a positive sign that Parkies can relate to, right? But on the other hand, local superstar Troy Aikman’s autographed merchandise has been marked down 57%. This must signify something- theory in development phase.

3. Can someone tell the Oak Farms milk delivery guy to adjust his routine a tiny bit so that his big truck with the flashing hazards (as if we need the blinking lights to alert us of his presence) isn’t blocking the entire HPMS traffic process? I’m thinking a few minutes earlier or later would do the trick. I’m just sayin’.

OMG, I saw the “Gucci Children” ad too and was amazed they would launch this line at all, much less in the middle of an major economic downturn. I would be mortified to hit Tom Thumb Snider Plaza with my kid pimped out in Gucci Garanimals; who buys this stuff??

Major economic downturn? Where? Not in Dallas, that’s for sure.

As to who buys this stuff, well, you know the answer.
