Group Bike Ride Saturday Benefits UP Elementary

Inspired by his wife, Jodi’s, hard work as UPPA Spring Market co-chair, local dad Rick Perdue has kicked into high gear of his own, and organized a group bike ride tomorrow morning to benefit University Park Elementary.

“She’s really working her butt off on this thing,” Rick said of Jodi. “Spring Market has always been a mom-centric type of event — dads usually just sit down and complain about all the time it takes — and I thought this wold be a great way to get the dads involved.”

Right on.

The details:

A sendoff gathering with orange juice and donuts is 8 a.m. Saturday at the school. The ride begins an hour later.

It’s about 20 miles, all told, and will begin at UPE, go to White Rock Lake — where participants will make one moderately paced lap — and end with party at 10:15 a.m., back at the elementary school.

Riders must be at least 17 years old.

$100 per person gets you entry and (per Perdue) “an incredibly cool bike jersey.”
