Turner Named HPISD’s New Assistant Supe

HPISD has a new financial guru. Timothy Turner, named assistant superintendent of Business Services last week, has served since 2005 as CFO and operations officer at Wichita Falls ISD. Turner will replace Ben Coker, who is retiring.

“I will bring all of my education, training and experience to bear in my new position,” Turner said in a press release. “My goal is to further the interests of all the stakeholders of the district: the students and their families, the employees, the taxpayers and the community.”

A CPA since the early ‘80s, Turner also served as business manager for Reagan County ISD. He previously worked in the private sector, at accounting firms in Dallas and Odessa, and as controller at Odessa’s Permian Tank & Manufacturing company.

Turner brought his wife, Marian, to Tuesday’s trustee meeting, where board members applauded his arrival and praised Coker’s decade-long tenure with the district.

“In losing Ben Coker, we lose a great deal of wisdom and knowledge,” said superintendent Dawson Orr. “But I’m very pleased Tim Turner has stepped in.”
