Possibly Armed Burglar Flees HP Home

A burglar — possibly holding a small gun — fled a home Monday once he was spotted by a teenage resident, the Highland Park Department of Public Safety said Wednesday afternoon.
Just after 1 p.m. Monday, in the 3400 block of Lindenwood Avenue, the teen witness spotted an unknown man in his home, near the back door, said Detective Marty Nevil. The stranger then fled out the back door, through the back yard, and off in an unknown direction.
Highland Park DPS called in Dallas police — including a K-9 unit and a helicopter — to search for the man, but they were not successful. DPS officers then searched the home for evidence.
Since the investigation is ongoing, more specific information was not available, Nevil said Wednesday.

I wondered what that helicopter was doing. Often their appearances are preceded by sirens. Very scary news.

I was listening to the police scanner this morning and heard a 911 call come in from a resident at the home stating that the man had returned while she was on a run. The scary thing is that her two kids were inside watching television, while the man was upstairs and they never heard a single sound. The man entered the home through a second story bedroom window. This is scary stuff!
