Help Me See The Lights

This house in the 4000 block of Glenwick was particularly festive last year. (Photo: Christina Barany)

My wife and I plan to take our boys on a Christmas-lights cruise this evening. Which streets — or, more specifically, blocks — are over-the-top spectacular this year?

The tree at the southeast corner of Douglas and Belclair is worth the drive by!

follow the carriages starting on Armstrong Pkwy – they have great routes – wind up and down the streets from Armstrong to Douglas – Lorraine close to Douglas and Versailles / Flippen Park are gorgeous!

The best in University Park is East from Preston on Druid Lane. The house on the South where it intersects Hunters Glen is spectacular – the property occupies the entire block. It might be 6601 Hunters Glen.

Great suggestions, everyone. I would also recommend Beverly Drive and the house on the corner of Edmondson and Lomo Alto that features a golfing Santa, complete with a cart and a bag full of clubs.

Question: When you buy a house in Highland Park, does the real estate agent mention all the traffic you will endure during the Christmas season?

I know it sounds Grinchy, but I am absolutely sick of the horse carriages coming up and down my block. Because so many people park on both sides of the street, once you get stuck behind a horse, you might be stuck at 3 MPH for a block or more at a time.
