Providence Alumni Celebrate Texas Independence

Did you celebrate Texas Independence day earlier this month? People Newspapers happily closed at noon for a combined observance of our fair state’s liberty as well as Peasants’ Day in Burma. Our newspaper may be local, but our company holidays are global. Providence alumni celebrated Texas Independence Day on March 1 at the home of Sarah and Elizabeth Johnson in the Park Cities. These post-college friends dined on Tex-Mex, reminisced about their days at Providence, and enjoyed Texas music.

Coincidentally, two of the alumni in attendance teach Texas history to their third-grade students at Providence Christian School (Megan Turner Douglass) and West Dallas Community School (Elizabeth Johnson), which are sister schools. On April 26, these two schools’ third-grade classes will meet each other at a combined Texas living history day.
