Robbery Suspects Crash Into Tree in Highland Park

A crash in Highland Park this morning was the result of a chase from Old East Dallas, Highland Park DPS reported.

Two robbery suspects allegedly stole a watch off a man’s wrist around 1:30 a.m. near Baylor Medical Center, then hopped in a gold Honda and fled. Undercover officers saw the vehicle on Oak Lawn Avenue, and gave chase. The suspects crashed into a tree in the 4800 block of Preston Road. The suspects were in serious condition, and taken to Parkland.

“What we did was we provided transport for the patients,” said Sgt. Lance Koppa. “And we supplied an engine because there was a little bit of extraction for the driver.”

The stolen watch was recovered by Dallas police.

What does “a little bit of extraction for the driver” mean?

@Gringo- They had to rip apart part of the car to get the driver out. Not a good scene.

Hard to feel sorry for them. No doubt they won’t be footing the bill for their medical services at Parkland either.

One other thing, why aren’t the suspects’ names being released?

@Gringo- Not sure. Sometimes when the suspects are critically injured (like in this case), they don’t send them out.

How expensive was this watch? A Rolex? Seems like a lot of work (aka tax dollars) & damage for a Timex.
