UP Fishing Derby Takes to The Shores Saturday

Head to Caruth Park at 9 a.m. tomorrow morning for University Park’s annual fishing derby. Take it away, Mr. Mace:

Children must bring their own pole and bait. “Catch and release” procedures will be followed. Awards will be presented for the largest and smallest fish caught.

There will also be door prizes, snacks and drinks. Parents are encouraged to register their children for the event by contacting the Park Department at 214-987-5488. Registration will also be allowed at the park on the day of the event.

To prepare, watch this fantastic video I found by searching “hilarious fishing videos.” It’s a slow news day.

While you are there, be sure to register for the University Park Public Library’s Summer Reading Club! Look for the library staff and volunteers in the tents by the tennis courts.

Now that the Parks dept has stocked the lake chock full, someone from PCP should don some cammo gear and snap some photos later on tonight of the dads drinking beer and getting first crack at the fish….
