Wanted: Wedding rings
As I mentioned last week, I have a fiancee. She’s a lovely gal, beautiful and athletic, brilliant, yet a dummy for agreeing to marry my sorry hide.
With marriage comes rings, and I’m clueless. The wedding’s in Maryland, but we want to pick out our rings while we’re down here. A few caveats:
– We’re fine financially, but not so fine that the cost of these rings isn’t something to consider.
– Simple. Simple bands. Solid metal, no designs.
– We like to support local business as much as we can. Both of us come from small business families.
So, any suggestions of jewelers?

I bought a 10th Anniversary ring from William Noble. They’re not cheap, but they’re small, local, and very good. For what I was looking for (which was simple and classic style, just like you), they had a lot better variety than Tiffany.
Yater Jewelry in Preston Center area….been in business for years and very helpful.
Carter Malouf is great!
I had my wedding band hand made by Jordan Lawrence at Craig Lawrence Jewelry in Snider Plaza. It fit perfectly and looked great. Plus they only charged me a fraction above the price of the gold itself!
I can’t imagine there being a better way to get jewelry than from Eric Olschwanger at http://www.olschwangerdesigns.com. In my case, I bought my wife’s engagement ring there, so I saved tons on the cost of the actual diamond, and I was able to get just the kind of band for it she wanted. We then got our actual wedding bands from him too. It was a very good experience overall, and I’ll be going back to him for a 5th anniversary present next year.
eBay. Then, have it sized and polished…. Plenty of bargains out there and you can save on the tax if bought out of state….. Stay frugal my friend!
Before you decide, please talk with Richard Eiseman at Eiseman Jewels at Northpark.
Richard is always giving back to the community (ask any HPISD group if he has ever said no to a plea for help).
And while he has a pretty high-end clientele, he has taken care of my jewelry needs for many many years though my budget is somewhat meager.
Even if you decide to buy elsewhere, you will have made a friend for life.
Two words: onion rings. Everybody wins.
Simple is best! The sentiment behind the ring is more important than the price. After several years of marriage we were able to upgrade my wife’s engagement ring. We have been married 22 years and have 2 beautiful kids. My wife rented a wedding dress and “we paid” for our entire celebration and honeymoon without breaking the bank. Our home is paid for and we can mow pay for our kids college education without stressing our retirement. Good luck with your engagement/wedding.
Barbara & Darrell Leverington on Lovers Lane, between the pet store & Park Cities Animal Hosp. They’re great, regardless of your budget.
Calame in the HP Village, very helpful and locally owned and operated by Jo and Joe Nichols.
All good suggestions here. Richard Eiseman has an excellent staff of experts there. Andre is our guy. Great service and, yes, you will have a friend for life. Very good quality at all sizes of stones.
“Simple. Simple bands. Solid metal, no designs.”
Amen. And in a world where 99 out of 100 wedding bands are gold, don’t forget you have other metals to choose from. Platinum bands can be a nice way to stay simple and unadorned yet still slightly different.
I hope you remembered 3 years salary on the engagement ring: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwGJhrcLmbA
It would be a pleasure to be of help to you. There are so many options and new alternative metals. Please give me a shout and I will be honored to be of assistance. 2147505395. Best Carter
Lyles Degrazier and if they ship it out of state you don’t have to pay the tax. You can pick it in person, have it shipped to your parents in Maryland (or wherever) and then get it back later.
A.b. what you just mentioned above about Lyle the jeweler is considered tax fraud That has to be one of the dumbest things I have read and you must be an idiot to have printed that out, especially if he was our friend. I am guessing by exposing him like you did, you are anything but!
