Highland Park Fires Town Hall Contractor

A month ago, Highland Park essentially fired Von Gallagher, of Gallagher Construction. During a three-hour worksession May 24, the Town Council picked apart the $18 million estimate for its town hall renovation, with the 25 percent price increase falling squarely on Gallagher’s shoulders.

On Monday, they made it official. During Monday’s Town Council meeting, councilmen voted unanimously to “[cancel] a professional services contract with Gallagher Construction Services.” They paid him $6,084.34 of a possible $515,000, town documents indicate.

And they got to work quickly. Councilmen interviewed three potential construction managers Monday morning, with plans to interview a fourth later this week. They hope to have a hire by July 9.
