St. Mark’s junior quarterback John Webb (5-10, 180) has been named the Built Ford Tough Private School Texas High School Player of the Week for his performance in last week’s 38-19 win over Episcopal School of Dallas.

Webb was 26-of-42 for 365 yards and five touchdowns. For the season, Webb has thrown for 2,043 yards and 20 touchdowns.

Also a basketball player for the Lions, Webb has a 4.09 GPA.

“John is an amazing student of the game,” St. Mark’s head coach Bart Epperson said in a press release. “He spends a lot of time watching film. As a result, he is a commander on the filed who always holds himself accountable. He’s a fierce competitor who’s also a quiet leader — and it’s contagious. John is the type of player who coaches love. He makes our job so enjoyable.”

Webb and the Lions (5-1, 4-1) play host to Tulsa (Okla.) Holland Hall at 7 p.m. Friday.
