Trinity Christian Academy intercepted two red-zone passes in the final five minutes Saturday afternoon to preserve a 27-16 victory over Bishop Lynch. The win at Lake Highlands’ Wildcat-Ram Stadium propels the Trojans to the TAPPS Division I state championship game.
A pair of Preston Hollow residents made key contributions on TCA’s final scoring drive. On a third-and-17 late in the third quarter, junior Brock Thomas caught a 45-yard completion; 20 of those yards came after the catch. Three plays later, the Trojans had not advanced the ball. But on fourth-and-10, senior Nick Plumlee caught the ball at the 1-yard line as he dove out of bounds with a Bishop Lynch defender draped across his back. TCA made it a two-possession game two plays later, and the ensuing extra point kicked by another Preston Hollow resident, Alexander Beiersdorf, was the final point of the game.
