Abigail Paschal Allums and Cade Siler Kauffman exchanged wedding vows Dec. 29, after their four-year engagement, at the historic Star Hill Ranch in Bee Cave, Texas. Their Hill Country ceremony at nightfall was officiated by the Rev. Sam Riccobene of Austin. Music for the nuptials was provided by a string quartet from Musical Discovery Chamber Players of Austin. A cocktail hour preceded a seated dinner reception with dancing to the inviting, versatile sounds of Platinum, a five-piece Austin dance band. A “Chevy chic” rehearsal dinner on the eve of the wedding was hosted by the parents of the groom at the County Line in Austin.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Robert Allums of University Park. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Clyde Allums Jr. of University Park, and Mr. and Mrs. Paschal Joseph Aucoin Jr. of Houston.

The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Andrew Kerr Kauffman of Midland, Texas. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Edwin Kauffman, Mrs. Edith Angalene Grafa, and the late Mr. Carroll Bains Grafa Jr., also from Midland.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted down the aisle by her father, the bride wore Cecilia, a strapless Monique Lhuillier designed gown of duchess satin, tulle, and lace. Its asymmetrical bodice with detailed corset draped an ethereal ball-gown skirt featuring a cascading lace motif. To complete her look, the bride wore a cathedral-length tulle veil and a pair of custom-made python boots. She carried a bouquet of fragrant David Austin Patience Garden roses, white roses, and miniature roses, all wrapped in ivory satin with a six pence from the bride’s grandmother, carrying on a Victorian wedding tradition.

Elisabeth Leigh Allums, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. The bride chose longtime friends Ashlyn Miller Beadel, Jessica Nicole McClanahan, Christine Caldwell Seay, and Kayle Self Sneed as bridesmaids. Members of the house party were Edy Jones Addison, Mary Catherine Burford, Laura Ann Schultz, and Laura Swope Butler. Scripture reading was by the grandparents in attendance.

Assisting the groom as best man was his father, Andrew Kauffman. His groomsmen included his brother Jerrad Grafa Kauffman, Brandon Todd Beadel, John Christopher Bickham, and Gordon Chandler Warren. Ushers were John Matthew Franzen, Matthew Travis French, Philip Daniel Friday, and Ryan Douglas Martin.

The bride is a graduate of Highland Park High School. She received a Bachelor of Arts in communication from the University of Oklahoma and will receive her Master of Arts in communication from the University of Oklahoma in May. Abigail is a member of Delta Delta Delta and numerous academic honor societies, including Lambda Pi Eta, Eta Sigma Phi, and the Golden Key International Honour Society. She is a development officer for the University of Texas of the Permian Basin in Odessa.

The groom is a graduate of Lee High School in Midland. He received a Bachelor of Arts in political science and business from Texas Tech University and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Oklahoma College of Law. While in college, the groom was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Phi Alpha Delta law fraternity. After the Texas Bar Examination in late February, Cade will be an attorney in private practice in the Midland/Odessa area.

The newlyweds departed from their wedding reception in a white 1963 Bentley S3 Sedan for a mini-honeymoon at the Four Seasons in Austin. After the Texas Bar Exam, the couple will honeymoon along the Turkish Aegean coast and in Istanbul. The couple resides in Midland.
