Police Close Rothermel Case

Straight from Lance Koppa, the Highland Park Department of Public Safety has closed its investigation into the Harrison Rothermel case:

“Investigators with Highland Park Department of Public Safety (HPDPS) have concluded their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Harrison Rothermel, a four-month-old that passed away at Children’s Hospital on July 15, 2012. HPDPS Investigators conducted interviews with family members, hospital staff, and personnel from the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office. Evidence collected from the home was compared to the testimony of all family members and follow-up interviews with medical personnel. HPDPS investigators have determined there is no direct evidence which would lead to the filing of criminal charges in this case.”

Does this mean the police think the dad didn’t harm the baby, or just that they don’t think anyone now alive did?

I took it to mean that the dad harmed the baby, and because the dad killed himself, no charges will be filed.

Harrison would have been one year old this month. I hope everyone who comments will choose his or her words carefully.
