That time of year is coming up — the Park Cities Independence Day Parade will be held on the Fourth of July, and of course, your devoted and loving Park Cities People staff will be there to help celebrate. This probably isn’t your first rodeo, but here are the details:
The parade begins at 9 a.m., with participants lining up at 7:30 near Highland Park Town Hall. The path starts at Euclid Avenue and goes through HP, winding up Preston Road into UP, and makes its way onto University Boulevard until it hits Goar Park. Then, the park transitions into party mode with music, food, and games for the festival, which officially starts at 9:30 a.m. And of course, it’s free.
If that’s not enough patriotism for you, sign up for the UP Firecracker Fun Run, which starts at Curtis Park at 7:30 a.m. on the Fourth. There are prizes for plenty of different categories, so come out no matter your age or experience level. The top five finishers will be announced just after. Early registration runners over 12 is $15 (12 and under are free). If you wait until the morning of the run, registration costs $20 (again, for over 12). When you sign up — which you can do at Peek Service Center — don’t forget to include your T-shirt size.
