Woman Surprises Burglar Early Saturday Morning

Here’s your sneak preview of the crimes you’ll find in this week’s blotter.

After 10 p.m. on June 17, a thief stole all four tires and rims from a 2013 Cadillac SUV in the 6000 block of Prestonshire Lane, leaving it propped up on landscaping stones.

At around 12:40 p.m. on June 18, police were called to Macy’s in NorthPark Center, where a shoplifter had been detained for trying to steal a $145 Polo Ralph Lauren jacket.

At around 11:25 a.m. on June 19, an armed robber stole an undetermined amount of cash from Amegy Bank of Texas in the 6800 block of West Northwest Highway.

At 9:40 a.m. on June 20, a careless driver in a gray 2012 Lexus SUV struck a 2002 Acura sedan at Jesuit, damaging the rear driver’s side door. The driver fled, but a witness recorded the Lexus’ license-plate number.

At 3 p.m. on June 21, a woman working at an office in the 3800 block of West Northwest Highway left her desk to get a drink. When she returned, she noticed a strange man standing behind her desk. He told her that he was looking for a package, and by the time she realized that her $25 wallet containing $100 worth of gift cards and $50 cash was missing, he was long gone.

At around 4:30 a.m. on June 22, a resident of the 4200 block of Gloster Road saw a burglar crouched near her back door with a prying tool in hand. When she yelled and banged on the window, the burglar fled, but not before causing $40 worth of damage a window.
