Inwood Village Officially Getting a Trader Joe’s

Trader Joes

There was a kerfuffle on FrontBurner last week about who broke the news that Trader Joe’s was going into Inwood Village. All of the contenders for that honor were the authors of stories that included no official word from the chain. But I just perused the agenda for next week’s Dallas City Council meeting and found out that a public hearing has been scheduled regarding Trader Joe’s ability to sell alcohol at that site, which is due north of Longfellow Middle School.

The stupid rules about selling liquor “near” schools and churches continue to amaze me. I feel as if we are living a hundred years ago or so. Heaven forbid some poor baptist has to drive by a restaurant or grocery store that has some wine or beer for sale.

Jews don’t recognize Jesus as the son of God. Protestants don’t recognize the Pope as the head of the church. Baptists don’t recognize each other in the liquor store.
