Former Highland Park wide receiver William Morris, who is a sophomore for Davidson, was named honorable mention wide receiver for the Football Championship Subdivision Performer of the Week Awards.

Morris had a career day with seven receptions for 188 yards, including a 33-yard touchdown, in a 35-22 loss to Johnson C. Smith last Saturday.

This is Morris’ first CFPA honor, and he was one of 11 receivers in FCS to be recognized for the week. He has already surpassed his season totals from his freshman campaign and is leading the Pioneer Football League with 332 receiving yards on 16 catches.

Recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams.

The Wildcats (0-3) will open their Pioneer Football League slate Saturday at Morehead State (0-4) at 1 p.m.
