Parkies Make SMU ‘Distinguished Alum’ List
SMU has announced its list of “Distinguished Alumni” (hold your applause … I’m not on the list). Even though I’m not included, three Highland Park residents are: Joseph M. “Jody” Grant, Jeanne Roach Johnson, and Peggy Higgins Sewell.
Grant launched Texas Capital Bank in 1998 and was named “Community Banker of the Year” by American Banker in 2001. He served as chair of the Woodall Rodgers Park Foundation Board, where he helped raise about $100 million for Klyde Warren Park.
Johnson works as a leader in the Dallas arts scene by acting as advisory governor for the Dallas Symphony, and director of the Dallas Symphony Foundation and the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra. She’s also an elder at Highland Park Presbyterian Church.
Sewell is an active supporter of the arts and serves on boards for the Dallas Museum of Art, Junior League of Dallas, Salvation Army of Dallas, and the Baylor Health Care System Foundation, to name a few. She received the 2013 TACA Silver Cup Award.
