Isabel Parigi of Devonshire, a freshman at Ursuline Academy and a graduate of Christ the King Catholic School, was recently chosen to be a featured skater during the Macy’s Grand Tree Lighting Celebration at Galleria Dallas.

Isabel and Karis Nowell of Richardson join a lineup that will feature Missile Toes — the Galleria’s ice-skating, back-flipping, pyrotechnic Santa Claus — and Olympic, world, and national champions performing around the mall’s 95-foot Christmas tree. This year’s featured guest skaters include 2002 Olympic champion Sarah Hughes, four-time world and Canadian champion Kurt Browning, and 2011 U.S. champion Ryan Bradley.

Isabel and Karis’ program was choreographed by Nick Traxler. The skaters — who train at the Dr Pepper StarCenters in Farmers Branch and Plano, respectively — were part of an exclusive audition on Nov. 10 at the Galleria. After two months of preparation and practice, 18 groups comprised of two to eight skaters from surrounding Dallas-Fort Worth rinks competed against one another for a chance to skate in one of the five Macy’s Grand Tree Lighting Celebration shows.

The public is invited to the complimentary shows at 6 p.m. this Saturday and 6 p.m. on Dec. 14.
