Joshua Limsenben, an eighth-grader at Providence Christian School, has won the school’s spelling bee for the third time. He’ll once again represent Providence in the Dallas County Private Schools Spelling Bee, which will be held Feb. 18 at UT-Dallas.

An audience of Providence parents and students gathered in the gym on Jan. 8 as nine spellers, one from each section of the fifth through eighth grades, competed in the school’s annual bee. The competition was fierce. By Round 11, only three students remained: sixth-grader Brandes Woodall, seventh-grader Creston Brooks, and Joshua.

Correctly spelling challenging words such as “aubergine” and “portmanteau,” Brandes and Creston proved to be formidable competitors. However, Joshua won his third Providence championship in Round 15 by spelling “latitudinous” and “decrepitude.”
