Bush Returns to Hockaday For Centennial

Laura BushThe Hockaday School didn’t have to venture far to find a distinguished speaker for its upcoming Centennial Luncheon.

Former First Lady Laura Bush will deliver the keynote address at the luncheon on April 11, which will highlight the Centennial Weekend celebration at the Preston Hollow campus.

The luncheon will honor Hockaday alumnae. Laura and George W. Bush enrolled their twin daughters, Jenna and Barbara, at Hockaday before moving to Austin in 1994. The Bushes moved back to Preston Hollow after leaving the White House in 2009.

The event at the Centennial Pavilion will cap a series of events commemorating the 100-year milestone at Hockaday. The school also will hold a “Party of the Century” starting at 6 p.m. Saturday.

The week will include a fine-arts spotlight at the middle and upper-school levels, a lower-school musical, a family-style luncheon for all students, a family picnic, and a 5K run. For more information, visit hockaday100.org.
