Westcott Concedes to Meyer Via Facebook

About 15 minutes ago, Chart Westcott conceded to Morgan Meyer on his personal Facebook profile:

Folks, the early voting results are very clear. Morgan Meyer will be the GOP nominee for HD108. He will have my full support in November to take on Leigh Bailey. I’ll release a more formal statement soon, but for now know that I am grateful to all my friends and supporters. I am especially thankful for everyone who walked blocks, made calls, and gave money.

Right now, dallascountyvotes.org is reporting Meyer with nearly 73 percent of the vote, and Westcott with just over 27 percent. Until precincts close, these numbers are still unofficial.

Polls closed at 7 p.m. Stay posted for Westcott’s formal statement.

It’s pretty difficult to outspend your opponent 4-to-1 and still lose by 40+ points in a runoff election. But I guess that’s what happens when you wage a campaign as contemptible as Chart did.

Glad it’s over. So tired of all the mail, door to door campaigners and the negativity.

I am so glad this election is over. Damn you, Chart, Morgan and your campaign people and minions who called and knocked on my door. I will vote for anyone who isn’t as hateful, manipulative and obnoxious as you are.

Now please take down the yard signs. Maybe the purple ones too? Also, if you see damaged signs laying on the side of the road, please take pride in the community and take the the time to pick them up and throw them in the trash.

Oh, but it’s not over. That was just the comedic overture. Now, we have the main election.

Then Leigh Bailey will likely appreciate your vote.

I saw a primary that had pretty much zero negativity (save comments on boards like this one) for this race. It wasn’t until the runoff and one candidate hired a campaign manager known for smear campaigns that things got ugly. And while things did get negative on both sides, I’d say the margin of mudslinging was 80/20 or even 90/10 on the Westcott side. So it wouldn’t surprise me at all to see zero negativity in the main election.

So…. did Chart Westcott ever issue a “formal statement?’ I guess now he can devote his energies towards defending himself against the Virginia charges brought against him.
