Police Report: May 26 to May 31


SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: It’s In The Bag

At 2:46 a.m., an officer spotted a white Ford pickup stopped in the 4200 block of Edmondson Avenue. The driver said he was checking his tire pressure. The officer told him to get a broken taillight fixed, but after finding he had no active warrants, did not detain him. A minute later, the officer found three bags in some nearby shrubbery containing a $675 pair of Jimmy Choo shoes, a $295 pair of Neiman Marcus pants, $175 worth of clothing from Gap Kids, less than $10 in coins, and assorted flight logs. The officer found the owners of the merchandise in a nearby house. They said it was stolen from three unlocked cars in their driveway. A black glove also was found at the scene. Meanwhile, the driver has an extensive criminal history that includes arrests for burglary, fraud, DWI, and drug possession.


HIGHLAND PARK

27 TUESDAY: At 11:43 a.m., an 85-year-old woman was issued a citation for failing to leave identification at the scene of an accident following an incident in which a white 2007 Lexus ES300 backed into a parked Highland Park Department of Public Safety vehicle in the 3800 block of Gillon Avenue. Officers tracked down the driver at her home and found damage on the Lexus consistent with that on the patrol car. The woman said she was unaware she struck a car while backing up on Gillon.

30 FRIDAY: At 9:50 p.m., Rosslund Palmer Watson, 18, of Dallas was arrested in the 3900 block of Potomac Avenue on charges of possession of marijuana in a drug-free zone, consumption by a minor, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

31 SATURDAY: Between 10 a.m. on May 30 and 9 a.m. on May 31, a thief stole a Big Tex utility trailer from an alley in the 3600 block of Mockingbird Lane.

At 9:15 p.m., a burglar broke into a gold 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe atHighland Park Village and stole a $380 pair of Kicker aftermarket speakers.


UNIVERSITY PARK

28 WEDNESDAY: At 1 a.m., Grant William Rogers, 21, of University Park was arrested in the 6300 block of Hillcrest Avenue on a public intoxication charge.

At 11:25 p.m., a vandal broke a window in a house in the 3500 block of Hanover Street, but didn’t steal anything after an alarm sounded.

29 THURSDAY: At 12:58 p.m., a thief stole a $200 iPhone and a $50 OtterBox phone case from behind the counter of a business atThe Plaza at Preston Center.

30 FRIDAY: Between 9:30 p.m. on May 29 and 1:30 p.m. on May 30, a thief stole a $500 Alpine subwoofer and a $175 pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses from an unlocked black 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe in the 3700 block of Binkley Avenue.

At 11:25 p.m., a 17-year-old Highland Park High School athlete was arrested in the 3800 block of Windsor Lane on a charge of possession of marijuana.

31 SATURDAY: At 2 a.m., Samantha Fritsch, 22, of Dallas was arrested in the 6200 block of Hillcrest Avenue on a public intoxication charge.

Between 12:10 and 7:30 a.m., a vandal caused $3,500 in damage to a black 2002 BMW 525i in the 3300 block of Colgate Avenue.


DALLAS

26 MONDAY: At 1:30 a.m., a thief stole a tan 2004 Chevrolet Yukon, valued at $10,000, in the 4400 block of North Central Expressway. The miscreant also purloined a $500 Kel-Tec .40-caliber rifle.

27 TUESDAY: At 1:15 p.m., a shoplifter stole four pairs of Nike shorts, valued at $148, from Dillard’s at NorthPark Center. Yelarrious Thomas Crow, 18, was arrested on a theft charge.

At 1:30 p.m., a shoplifter stole $207 worth of children’s clothing from Macy’s at NorthPark Center. Destinee Dyshay Williams, 23, was arrested on a theft charge.

At 4:24 p.m., a shoplifter stole a $545 pair of jeans from Neiman Marcus at NorthPark Center. Chase Wayne White, 22, was arrested on charges of theft and possession of methamphetamine.

Between 5 and 9:30 p.m., a thief broke into a white 2003 Chevrolet Silverado, valued at $5,000, at NorthPark Center and stole it.

28 WEDNESDAY: Between 10 p.m. on May 27 and 7:30 a.m. on May 28, a burglar broke into a blue 2010 Lexus sedan in the 4300 block of Gilbert Avenue and stole $5,000 worth of Louis Vuitton luggage, $3,000 worth of assorted clothing, and a $650 iPad.

At 9:30 a.m., an officer found a duffel bag containing $372 worth of sexual bondage items in the 4300 block of Gilbert Avenue.

29 THURSDAY: Between 6:10 and 6:45 a.m., a burglar broke into a locker at a fitness club in the 4000 block of Oak Lawn Avenueand stole an $11,500 Rolex Submariner watch, and a $150 money clip with $1,000 in cash.

Between 11 p.m. on May 28 and 7 a.m. on May 29, a thief stole a black 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe, valued at $20,000, from an apartment complex in the 3900 block of Buena Vista Street.

At 11:30 a.m., a thief entered an unlocked silver 2006 Chevrolet coupe in the 5300 block of Rock Cliff Place and stole a $50 bag and a $10 wallet. A witness to the larceny followed the perpetrator, who threw some items out of the bag while fleeing on foot. The thief wound up at a house in the 8900 block of Inwood Road, where the miscreant walked in through an unlocked door and stole a $100 wallet containing $120 in cash off the kitchen counter, along with the keys to a yellow 2013 Porsche. The thief fled in the Porsche but was later spotted by a plain-clothes officer in the 1500 block of Empire Central. Keithan Jay Brown, 24, was arrested on charges of burglary of a vehicle and burglary of a habitation.

30 FRIDAY: Between 8 p.m. on May 29 and 7:30 a.m. on May 30, a burglar broke into a black 2009 Suzuki sedan at an apartment complex in the 4000 block of Cole Avenue and stole a $1,100 HP laptop computer, a $700 Galaxy S4 phone, and $200 in cash.

Between 10 p.m. on May 29 and 8 a.m. on May 30, a burglar broke into a white 2008 Ford sedan at an apartment complex in the 3900 block of McKinney Avenue and stole a $1,500 laptop computer, a $1,200 briefcase, two iPhone units with a combined value of $1,200, a $1,000 Pioneer stereo, and three pairs of sunglasses with a combined value of $800.

At 1:30 p.m., a shoplifter stole two women’s shirts valued at $436, two dresses valued at $338, and a $38 scarf from Dillard’s atNorthPark Center. Mini Varughese, 48, was arrested on a theft charge.

Between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., a thief stole a red 2003 Chevrolet Silverado, valued at $6,000, in the 4500 block of Gilbert Avenue.

Between 11 p.m. on May 28 and 6 p.m. on May 30, a thief stole a $1,500 valet stand from outside Lolitas in the 4200 block of Lemmon Avenue.

31 SATURDAY: At 10:10 a.m., a thief stole a $200 Tory Burch wallet containing $500 in cash, $200 worth of gift cards, and a $100 Mercedes car key from a shopping cart at Preston Center.
