Scottie Scheffler’s second PGA Tour event wasn’t as successful as his first, as the University Park resident missed the cut on Saturday at the St. Jude Classic in Memphis, Tenn.

Scheffler, who graduated from Highland Park High School last week, made the cut and broke par during his debut at the Byron Nelson Championship in May. He was playing as an amateur with a sponsor’s exemption.

This weekend, Scheffler started strong by playing his first 14 holes in 3-under par on Thursday before a triple-bogey derailed his momentum. During the rain-delayed second round, Scheffler stumbled badly down the stretch, shooting 7-over in his final 12 holes to finish with a round of 76. He wound up missing the cut by six shots.

Still, Scheffler has plenty of big tournaments ahead of him this summer, including the U.S. Amateur in August in suburban Atlanta, before enrolling this fall at the University of Texas.
