In its heyday, the Hotel Indigo in downtown Dallas was one of the hotspots of the famed “Theatre Row” district, which blended entertainment, commerce and shopping. Its 90-year history includes becoming the first hotel to bear the Hilton name.

This summer, the boutique hotel on Main Street will get begin significant renovation, with a Park Cities designer hoping to recapture the nostalgia look of those 1920s glory days.

Sarah Pickard, president of Pickard Design Studio, completed a makeover of the Hotel Indigo New Orleans last year. Her plans for the Dallas hotel include fashion nuances from the Roaring Twenties, as well as murals depicting some of the unique local history from that era. She hopes to restore original decoration and ornamentation with a warm-neutral color scheme featuring Texas white Indiana Limestone.

The renovation will include all common areas including the lobby and reception area, as well as meeting spaces, corridors, a restaurant and bar, and all 170 guest rooms.
