Students: Use ‘Golden Rule’ to Express Art, Win

We all know that the arts frequently receive far too little funding in schools. We also all know that the “golden rule” is something many families value in our community. Why not combine the two and enter The Thanks-Giving Foundation’s Expressions of Gratitude art competition?

Here’s the deal: teachers/mentors/parents of students K-12 can enter children’s work in the form of visual arts, dance, and written word on the theme “I am grateful for the Golden Rule.” Entries are open Sept. 15 – Dec. 15.

Judges from various institutions will then award an art/essay winner with prize money from the following groups: kindergarten/first grade; second/third grade; fourth/fifth grade; sixth through eighth grade; ninth/tenth grade; and eleventh/twelfth grade.

Dance entries will be judged in three groups: kindergarten through fifth grade; sixth through eighth grade; and ninth through twelfth grade.

Not only do winners receive a cash prize, but their teacher or school receives money for classroom supplies. Click the link here for more information.
