Edgemere Residents Share Gifts With Homeless Kids

Residents of the Edgemere senior community are doing their part to help those less fortunate during the holiday season with their inaugural Tea Around the Tree toy drive benefiting Vogel Alcove.

The residents helped to collect more than 150 toys for the Dallas-based charity that benefits homeless and impoverished children. Before delivering the gifts, they gathered around the Christmas tree for punch, eggnog, and pastries.

“This was our first year doing this event and I couldn’t have been happier with the end result,” said Mary Anne Luterman, social committee chair at Edgemere. “I think this toy drive helped bring back the Christmas spirit for a lot of the residents. It’s not only great for the children; it’s great for us too. I think this will become a new tradition here at Edgemere.”
