Pastors Swap Churches to Promote Diversity

There will be a different face in the pulpit at Park Cities Baptist Church on Sunday. Likewise at Concord Church in Oak Cliff.

Rev. Bryan Carter, senior pastor at Concord, and PCBC senior pastor Dr. Jeff Warren will switch churches for Palm Sunday to help promote friendship and diversity between congregations.

The two church leaders have become close friends over the past several years, and each has been burdened by racial tensions between the northern and southern sides of Dallas. Warren said he hopes to unite the church across racial, economic, and cultural lines.

Carter is the leader of Harmony Community Development Corp., which aims to build stronger families and encourage economic development in southern Dallas. He will speak at the 9:15 and 10:45 a.m. services on Sunday at PCBC. Meanwhile, Warren will preach at Concord during services at 8 a.m., 10 a.m., and noon.

In addition to the pastors, some worship leaders, choir members, and band members also will swap churches for the day as a gesture of spiritual solidarity. Each of the pastors speak about their efforts in this video.

I wanted to watch the PCBC service on the internet as I was out of town. I was amazed that PCBC does not stream their service yet Concord did. Perhaps it is time for PCBC to join 2015.
