From trophies to championships, there are plenty of great athletic traditions at Highland Park High School. None of them have anything to do with bass fishing.

Maybe Cooper Marchetto and his teammates on the relatively new Highland Park fishing team can change that. Marchetto, a sophomore, made quite an impression during a recent Texas High School Bass Fishing Association tournament at Lake Ray Roberts.

Marchetto reeled in a bass weighing 11.84 pounds, which set a THSFBA record as well as a junior record for the lake. He and teammate Jack Fain finished third in the competition overall because they caught just one other fish, and it was less than two pounds. But Marchetto’s whopper made it all worthwhile.
