For Highland Park, two years is a long drought when it comes to state lacrosse titles.

But this weekend, the Scots have a chance to assert themselves again atop the Texas High School Lacrosse League. HP will travel to the state tournament in Round Rock seeking its first title since 2012 and its seventh overall.

The Scots (12-3) will face Allen in the semifinals on Saturday for a berth in Sunday’s championship game. The other semifinal includes defending champion ESD and The Woodlands. HP should be the favorite after defeating all three teams during the regular season, including a 15-1 triumph over Allen that equaled its largest margin of victory all year.

The Scots reached the state tournament with a 7-2 win over Houston Memorial on Sunday in a regional final in Plano. After that game, they had three players honored as U.S. Lacrosse All-Americans, including Kevin Ken, Colby Kneese, and Cole Ogden.
