United Way Luncheon Honors Volunteers
United Way of Metropolitan Dallas held its 6th annual volunteer appreciation luncheon and awards ceremony yesterday, June 8. Ebby Halliday and Erle Nye received the Decades of Distinction Award, while Charles “Chuck” Gummer received the J. Erik Jonsson Award.
“Other folks like Ruth Altshuler and Roger Staubach [have received it]. They’re icons. I’m wondering how I got here,” Gummer said.
A number of other volunteers were honored for various roles, representing many corporate partners from Dr. Pepper Snapple Group to Texas Instruments. (Click here for a complete list.)
“It’s the culmination of a record-breaking year,” chief operating officer Susan Hoff said.
United Way celebrated its 90th anniversary with a gala featuring Blake Shelton and Usher in February.
