Sarah Hope Swaim of Preston Hollow recently made a prayerful addition to a local church as part of her Girl Scout Gold Award service project.

Swaim, a sophomore at Ursuline, planted a rosary garden at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, a Catholic church and school near Love Field. She also handled the planning and fundraising for the project.

Swaim, who is from Troop 8539, led a group of volunteers who planted flowers and dug holes to install stones for the garden outside the parish’s convent. The project includes one stone for each bead of the rosary so that visitors can walk through the garden while in prayer.

As a follow-up, Swaim plans to donate prayer booklets to the school so children can learn how to pray the rosary.
