Highland Park Test Positive For West Nile

Mosquito Management Map 2015A pool of mosquitoes has tested positive for West Nile Virus in Highland Park. The sample was taken from the west side of town.

In response, the town will spray for mosquitoes west of Preston Road to town limits (quadrants A and B on the map above). Spraying will begin at 10 p.m. and end by 6 a.m. the following morning on Aug. 28, 29, and 30.

The areas to be sprayed include public rights-of-way and town tennis courts. Spraying will not take place in the event of high winds or rain.

In order to help prevent the spread of West Nile, dump out standing water in yards such as bird baths, wading pools, pet dishes, and flower pot basins. Change water several times per week. Pets and people should stay inside during spraying, and clean any pet dishes left outside.
