HPHS Presents ‘Cinderella’

Doesn't that set look amazing?

The prince is giving a ball! (Did anyone else grow up with a VHS copy of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s 1965 Cinderella starring Lesley Ann Warren? No? Just me? OK then.)

The talented kids of Highland Park High School will sing and dance their way through this classic beginning Sept. 12.

“We all love to cheer for a dreamer,” HPHS director of art instruction Linda Raya said. “We share the hope of a young girl when she feels bullied and unjustly punished. We are charmed by her sense of appreciation for the simple things and hope for a life filled with more than chores and grumpy relatives.”

All performances will take place in the HPHS Palmer Auditorium. Tickets are already on sale at the fine arts box office from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on weekdays, but you can also buy yours an hour before each showtime. Pricing is $10 for reserved seating and $8 for general admission. Here are the showtimes:

  • Saturday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m.
  • Sunday, Sept. 13 at 2 p.m.
  • Saturday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m.
  • Sunday, Sept. 20 at 2 p.m.

For more info, you can call 214-780-3881. In the meantime, I’ll be playing “Ten Minutes Ago” on loop on Spotify.
