There might be some “hard knocks” in the latest Highland Park Middle School stage production, but there’s nothing wrong with that. The school’s Playbill Troupe will perform the award-winning musical “Annie” from Oct. 15-18 in the campus auditorium.

The Depression-era rags-to-riches story of the New York orphan girl, her dog Sandy, and her billionaire benefactor will be presented by HPMS drama director Susan McCormick and HPMS musical director Katie McDaniel, along with Preston Center Dance choreographer Megan Kelly-Bates. Victoria Cura leads the ensemble cast in the title role.

Performances will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, 4 p.m. Friday, 7 p.m. Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $5 each at the door.
