Diamond Boy Finishes Second at Daytona 24

University Park native Nick Boulle, yes of de Boulle Diamonds and Jewelry, finished second in the Prototype Challenge class at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona last weekend.

“I have always loved motorsports and racing in the Rolex 24 has turned a dream into reality,” Boulle said in a statement.

The 26-year-old was racing as part of a four-driver team led by Tom Kimber-Smith, a 24 Hours of Le Mans winner, and finished out by Robert Alon and Jose Gutierrez.

The team completed 698 laps during the race, four laps behind the winning PC-class team. The car averaged speeds of 125 mph, with a top speed of around 190 mph. Each driver spent about six hours in the cockpit.

Their Le Mans Prototype car — which features an open-cockpit design, a carbon fiber chassis, carbon ceramic breaks, and a six-speed sequential gear box — was sponsored by de Boulle Motorsports and Meridian Realty Advisors.
