Kyle Muller is taking the phrase “in the zone” to a whole new level this spring.

The Jesuit senior, who has signed with Texas, struck out 18 batters in a row on Monday against Irving, then drove home the winning run in extra innings. And that came after he had 15 strikeouts in a five-inning no-hitter in his previous start against Sunset.

In all, the lefthander recorded 36 consecutive outs by strikeout over a three-game span during which he pitched 12 straight no-hit innings. The Dallas Morning News has more details on Muller’s recent greatness.

Muller will be limited to batting when the Rangers (17-4) face a rematch against Irving on Friday. But that won’t slow him down, either. Muller has 12 home runs already this season, which leads all Dallas-area hitters.
