Junior League to Fund DISD Projects

Hands up educators! The Junior League of Dallas and Texas Instruments have teamed up again to offer Grants for Innovative Teaching (GFIT) to Dallas ISD teachers for the 2016-17 school year.

Teachers can apply now for grants up to $2,000 in value to help fund projects in the following ares: reading and literacy enrichment; STEM; or arts and cultural enrichment. Applications are due May 16 at 5 p.m. There will be an awards ceremony in September for recipients.

“Through the GFIT program, DISD teachers who are making a difference in the lives of students are able to provide new opportunities for learning,” said Meredith Mosley, president of JLD, in a statement.“We look forward to seeing the impact these projects have on students.”

The Hillcrest Foundation and the Agnes Cluthe Oliver Foundation are also supporting GFIT.

Since 1992, JLD has granted more than $1.5 million to DISD projects. This past year, they funded 43 grants.
