Is DISD Getting a Change of Address?

A change of address may be in order for the Dallas ISD headquarters, depending on the school board meeting at 6 p.m. on April 28. At the meeting, trustees will vote whether to approve the $46.5 million purchase of 9400 North Central Expressway to house its new headquarters.

This proposal from DISD Superintendent Michael Hinojosa is part of a consolidation goal to provide a one-stop shop for parents, community members, and prospective and current employees. The hope is to improve customer service, increase organizational efficiencies, reduce facilities operating costs, and enhance the district’s presence in the Dallas community.

The one-stop site would include a welcome center, student records, volunteer and partnerships office, parent services offices, and resource and working space for teachers and instructional staff.

According to the DMN, if the deal is approved, the plan is to finalize the sale on July 1.
