Johnny Manziel Turns Himself in to HP Police

F3642_001-4ormer Texas A&M and Cleveland quarterback Jonathan “Johnny” Paul Manziel, 23, surrendered himself and was booked by Highland Park Department of Public Safety around 2 p.m. Wednesday on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge, HP police said.

It is not uncommon when someone has a charge against them for them to come in to the HP station and turn themselves in, said Lt. Lance Koppa. “It’s convenient … if you have to make an appearance in Dallas County anyway,” he said. “We’re a very small agency.”

Koppa did said Manziel was one of the more interesting people to have come in during his tenure.

Manziel posted $1,500 bond yesterday and appeared in a Dallas County Criminal Court this morning. ESPN reported that Judge Roberto Canas told Manziel that he is to have “no contact whatsoever” with his former girlfriend Colleen Crowley, who had filed the complaint against him.

He faces up to a year in prison and a $4,000 fine if convicted.
