After an ugly stumble on its home field on Friday, Jesuit looked more like itself during a doubleheader sweep on the road on Saturday.

As a result, the Rangers rallied to eliminate Belton in the area round of the Class 6A Region II playoffs. Jacob Palisch pitched a shutout in the decisive third game, which Jesuit won 2-0, on the heels of a 9-1 win by the Rangers in Game 2.

In the series opener, the Rangers surrendered their highest run total of the season in a 13-6 defeat. The Tigers held a stunning 13-0 advantage midway through the seventh inning before Jesuit dominated the remainder of the series.

Now the Rangers (29-6) must turn their attention to a rematch against rival Highland Park (29-6) in the regional quarterfinals next week. Jesuit swept the Scots in the same round a year ago.
