Highland Park will look to continue its dominance at the Class 5A state tennis tournament beginning Wednesday in College Station.

While continuing one streak at this week’s Class 5A state tennis tournament, Highland Park will look to start another one.

The Scots will head to the state tournament as a team for the 29th consecutive year. And after having their string of seven straight championships snapped in the 6A semifinals last fall, the Scots are poised to return to the top of the podium.

HP (17-0) will face defending 5A champion Grapevine (11-6) n the semifinals on Wednesday in College Station. The Scots easily won a regular-season meeting between the teams. The winner will face either San Antonio Alamo Heights or A&M Consolidated on Thursday for the title.

Over the weekend, the Scots claimed the Region II championship in Allen by scoring a decisive victory over Frisco in the finals. Among the individual winners for HP were Elizabeth Tedford, Katherine Petty, Logan Lett, Madison McBride, and Conrad Hansen. Earlier in the tournament, the Scots toppled Bryan Adams and Frisco Liberty.
