Strong pitching led Highland Park to split a pair of games against Lovejoy to start District 15-5A play.

The Scots won the district opener 1-0 on March 13, with Clayton Rejebian and Grant Kipp combining on the shutout. Kipp also had two hits for HP. The Leopards took the second game of the series 3-1 on Friday.

During the previous weekend, the Scots dropped three of five games on their home field during the annual Scotland Yard Classic tournament. HP defeated Midland and Belton, and fell to Denton Guyer, Sachse, and Georgetown.

In the 4-0 victory over Midland, Grant Kipp threw a shutout and Benner Page hit a three-run home run. And during the 5-2 win over Belton, the top hitters included Page, Jack Kemendo, Will Smith, Ryan Wheeler, and Jack Yates.

HP will continue league play this week against North Forney, hosting the Falcons on Tuesday before hitting the road on Friday. The Scots will return home for a nondistrict game against Flower Mound Marcus on Saturday.
