The Hillcrest High School basketball player who wore No. 14 and went by “Rashun Richardson” during this past season was really a 25-year-old man posing as a teen displaced by Hurricane Harvey, according to media reports.

Sidney Bouvier Gilstrap-Portley was arrested Friday and is facing a charge of tampering with government records, the reports say.

He first enrolled at Skyline High School in August before transferring to Hillcrest in October.

The sports website hudl.com described “Rashun Richardson” as a 6-foot, 2-inch tall point guard scheduled to graduate in 2020.

He scored 17 points in Hillcrest’s 57-53 loss to Seagoville on Feb. 20 in a Class 5A Region II bi-district game.

NBC Channel 5 reported that DISD discovered in April the player wasn’t who he said he was after a coach from another school saw him playing.

“For him to take advantage of the Harvey situation and then the homeless laws and get himself in front of our students,” Dallas ISD superintendent Michael Hinojosa told the TV station, “it is frustrating something couldn’t have been done more quickly.”
